While living in Japan, the sketchbook became more and more of a part of my artistic experience. There were so many new sights to behold, and I didn’t always have time to complete oil paintings. Taking the sketchbook with me became the natural choice. For my medium, I gravitated to a simple three ell in love with simplifying the subject using Copic grey markers. I chose three tones of grey, which is enough. into three tones of grey I found ways to cut down on the time it took me to capture the image and document the experiences that I was having in Japan. These are a few sketches from my sketchbooks.
