Just Add Water: Water-soluble Graphite and Conte

Wednesdays April 17 – May 15, 2023

with J. Jordan Bruns

5-WEEK ART CLINIC

Water-soluble Graphite and Conte crayon are two underappreciated and incredibly fun drawing tools.  Imagine a beautiful line that when you “just add water” you’re able to pull that line into a shape while still retaining the grace of your original line. These drawn lines can be expressive or controlled depending on what you are looking for. This is a great Art Clinic for drawing students as well as students interested in water-based painting. Please note there is an additional $20 model fee paid in class.

Session 1 Schedule of Classes:

Class 1) April 17 – Introduction to Water Soluble Graphite

Exercise: “A line is a dot that went for a walk” – Water Soluble Graphite Still Life Day 1

Class 2 April 24 – Water Soluble Graphite Still Life Day 2 – WS graphite shavings, mister spray and splattering.  Give up a little control.

Class 3 May 1 – Exercise: Splatter Art and Quick Draw! Speed up and loosen up your mark drawing organic still life objects or plein air

Class 4) May 8 – Working from the live model

Class 5) May 15 – Working from the live model

Materials Pass” is encouraged for “Just Add Water” but is an optional fee that rents out all the materials you would need for your Art Clinic class and provides the specific paper needed.  For this session of “Just add Water” the materials pass is $30.  Please note that with Material Pass, you keep your artwork but are leasing the drawing/painting tools (like brushes and palette).  If you select to pay the Materials Pass, please email Jordan Bruns, to let him know.  You can always email with any questions.
