ACO Artist Discussion with Maremi Andreozzi

Maremi Andreozzi, Art Clinic Online, Glen Echo Park, Artist Discussions, Jordan BrunsMaremi Andreozzi (Winston-Salem, North Carolina) is an Alexandria, Virginia painter exploring themes of feminism, women’s history and social justice. Maremi earned a BFA from Cornell University (1994) and a MFA from Clemson University (1997). Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She is represented by Adah Rose’s Gallery in Kensington, Maryland. Her work is in the collection of many private collectors and the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers, in New Jersey, JD Marriot in Washington, DC, DC Commission for the Arts, Arlington County Arts Commission, and Eat Good Food Group in Alexandria, Virginia. Maremi is the recipient of numerous fellowship residencies at La Macina di San Cresci in Greve in Chianti, Italy (2019), The Mesa in Springdale, Utah (2003), and The Cornucopia Art Center in Lanesboro, Minnesota (2002). Her residency at The Mesa was in partnership with the Smithsonian traveling exhibition, “Key Ingredients: America by Food”.

She has been awarded numerous awards and recognitions and was a semifinalist for the Bethesda Painting Award (2022). In 2021, she was awarded an Honorable Mention and a People’s Choice Award at Riverview Artspace for her painting, “Headwraps and Neckerchief”. She received a Juror’s Award from McLean Project for the Arts for her painting, “Furs” (2021). In 2021, her painting, “The Suffragists” was exhibited in The Phillip’s Collection exhibition, “Inside Outside, Upside Down” and was selected for an audio stop presentation. Several of her “History Adorned” portraits are on loan in Vienna, Austria through the Arts in Embassies Program. Future 2023, plans include a fall solo at Adah Rose Gallery. Maremi lives and work in the Mount Vernon area.
