Glen Echo Park Resident Artist J. Jordan Bruns is excited to present “Japanese Influences: Three Years Abroad” for the Rockville Art League this November 3rd. During his sabbatical in Japan, Bruns explored new methods of making artwork that were very different from his large-scale abstract paintings that were his comfort zone. Some of this work developed out of a small Japanese studio space, and some influenced by the new culture. Through the images shown in his discussion, he hopes to map his search for inspiration, and why he eventually settled on ink wash as his medium that reflects Japan.
