Donald Ely is an award-winning multidisciplinary art director, designer and illustrator from Bryantown, Maryland. He currently works full time as Art Director at ASCD, an education nonprofit organization based out of Arlington, Virginia. Prior to working at ASCD, Donald acted as senior graphic designer at Weber Shandwick where he was the lead designer on top accounts which ranged from non-profits/foundations, government agencies, corporate brands and issue advocacy groups.
As a freelancer, Donald has worked with a wide variety of clients including editorial publications, theaters, restaurants, musicians, and a film production company. Noteworthy accomplishments include winning AIGA 50 awards from AIGA DC; numerous Graphic Design USA awards; and Association Media and Publishing Excel awards for publication design. His illustration has been featured in prestigious illustration annuals such as Communication Arts, the Society of Illustrators, the Richmond Society of Illustrators, and American Illustration (online).
