10-week Art Clinic with J. Jordan Bruns
This spring, we will delve into the transformative work of Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, and Paul Gauguin—three groundbreaking artists who redefined the boundaries between representation and abstraction. We will explore their revolutionary approaches to color, form, and composition, which continue to inspire artists today. Through a mix of lectures and exercises, we’ll investigate why their work remains so influential and how these masters laid the groundwork for modern and abstract art. Minimum age 14. 9 sessions
Schedule of Classes:
Class 1) May 2 – Lecture: Cezanne and His Influence
Exercise: Take a Post Impressionist and use their work as a foundation for one of yours. Are you interested in color, mark making or movement? Take one of these aspects and use that as the driving force behind the painting.
Class 2) May 9 – Work Day
Class 3) May 16 – Lecture: Van Gogh and the Importance of Mark Making
Class 4) May 23 – Demo: Creating a Library of Mark Making with Ink

Class 6) June 6 – Lecture: Gauguin (Bad Human, Good Painter) and Exotic Color
