General Class Description

We’ve all got some work that has better days ahead and “The Fine Art Rework Clinic” is your one stop shop to fix your down and out art.  Each clinic in this series focuses on a different aspect of art making.  You’ll learn techniques that will not only fix mediocre art, but also help you make more educated decisions when starting new pieces.  While each clinic explores a different concept in a four-week burst, artists will find that what they learn in one clinic will be enhanced by other clinics in the series

Session 2 “Thievery (or borrowing from the masters)”

Picasso was quoted saying “good artists borrow, great artists steal”. There is some truth to that, as we have seen masters borrowing from one another over and over throughout art history. We’ll look at some of the major thefts by the masters and see how they made the stolen goods their own masterpieces. In class, we’ll do our own homage to the masters by taking a beloved painting and finding ways to make it our own.

This is a beginner to advanced level Art Clinic.

Session 3 Techniques for Fixing Mediocre Artwork – “Putting it All Together”

For Session 3 of Techniques for Fixing Mediocre Artwork, we will be learning to recognize things that can be improved in a painting and create plans on how to fix them.  We’ll consider the elements of art and how to relate them to what we are working on in the studio.  In doing so, we’ll not only be able to make changes to paintings to improve them, but we will be able to resist making these mistakes in the future.  This session focuses on self and peer critique, how to give one and how to apply the feedback.

This is a beginner to advanced level Art Clinic.
