Experimental Figure Drawing: Intermediate to Advanced Level Artist
Class Start Date: August 2, End Date: August 23
Days: Thursdays, Time: 9:30 -12:00pm
This course emphasizes the artistic importance of drawing. We’ll explore a range of drawing methods: both traditional and nontraditional techniques. We’ll focus on increasing visual sensitivity, cultivating technical skills, and understanding the steps of building a drawing. $20 model fee paid in class. For students under the age of 16, you and your parent/guardian must obtain instructor permission prior to enrollment in this class. Minimum age 16. No nude models are present for this course.
Schedule of Classes:
Class 1) August 2 – Gesture, simple proportions, short poses
Vine charcoal, kneaded erasers and newsprint paper
Class 2) August 9 – “Sargent’s Line”
Compressed charcoal, vine charcoal, white charcoal OR newsprint paper, kneaded erasers
Class 3) August 16 – “Black Conte White Paper” (after Seurat)
Black conte crayon and Mi Tintes pastel paper
Class 4) August 23 – “Diebenkorn Revisions”
Vine charcoal, kneaded erasers, compressed charcoal and newsprint paper
Please note that there is a class model fee of $20 per person for the class (4 models, four days) please make the check (or cash) out to Jordan Bruns. There are minimal paper costs that are for specific exercises but feel free to bring your own paper as long as it matches what we’re using in class. I buy in bulk so can sell it at cost. I do paper costs as needed in case you miss class.

Soft compressed charcoal or black pastel
Vine or Willow (soft) charcoal
Black conte crayon
Extra Large kneaded eraser
White Plastic Eraser
Drawing board large enough for 18×24” paper (optional)
Acid Free Artist Tape
