New Drawing Class this Fall!

Expressive Drawing: Intermediate Drawing to Advanced

September 17th- November 19th, January 21- April 1st

Fridays, 9:30am-12:00pm,                   $275                     10 Sessions

 This course emphasizes the artistic importance of drawing.  Our class will explore a range of drawing methods from both traditional and nontraditional techniques.  We will focus on increasing visual sensitivity, cultivating technical skills, and understanding the steps of building a drawing.

Materials List:

Drawing

*Drawings pencils:  6H 4H 2H HB 2B 4B 6B

*White plastic eraser

*3 Extra Large Kneaded erasers 

*Vine/Willow (soft if labeled) charcoal  3 pack

*Large vine charcoal stick

*Conte Crayons- sepia, white, and black pack

*Blending stick

*Chamois cloth (old cotton cloth will work fine)

Paper

*18 X 24 <White> drawing pad (or Velum pad)

*11 X 14 sketch pad, Strathmore or equivalent brand (you hopefully already have a sketchbook)

*18 X 24 News Print Paper or charcoal paper (any paper you prefer for charcoal)                                        

General Supplies

*Pencil sharpener (or exact-o knife)

*Three or four bulldog clips

*Artist tape, ¾” or 1”     (blue painters tape will work)                                                      

*Portfolio, (or carrying case for paper)

*Supply box

Optional

Spray fixative, low-odor matte (optional to preserve charcoal drawings)

Digital camera

Pastels

Pen and ink

Watercolor pencils, w/ watercolor paper

Graphite powder

BFK paper, or better drawing paper

Specific Hours you can visit me in the studio this Fall Winter term: (Hours I am not teaching)

Wednesday- 11:00am-12:30pm (night hours will open starting Sep 1st)

Thursday- 12:00-4:00pm

Friday- 3:30-6:00pm

Saturday and Sunday- 11:00-6:00pm
